How CBD extract is made? Hemp or CBD Oil vs. Hemp Seed Oil

How CBD extract is made?

Hemp/CBD Oil vs. Hemp Seed Oil

The main difference between hemp oil and hemp seed oil is that latter does not contain cbd.

Hemp oil or CBD oil comes from the different parts of the hemp plant, which belongs to the cannabis sativa family. The plant is often used for industrial purposes. Hemp contains low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and high levels cannabidiol or CBD.

Hemp oil contains full range of cannabinoids including Cannabidiol CBD and trace amounts of THC. The legal amount of THC in Europe is < 0.2%.

There are more than 100s of different cannabinoids in hemp plant.

However, hemp seed oil is extracted from hemp seeds and DO NOT contain any cannabinoids or at very low levels.

To make sure you are getting the right product read the description of the product. Most often CBD product contains hemp seed oil as carrier oil.

But if it says hemp seed oil only remember it will not contain any or trace levels of CBD.

Hemp seed oil is cold pressed from the seeds.

Why and How CBD oil and Hemp oil is the same product?

For many people it might be still confusing why cbd oil and hemp oil is the same product.

To Explain it better let’s dig into extraction process of the plant.

CBD is molecule extracted from the Cannabis L. sativa plant which is also called industrial hemp. That's why it is also called hemp oil.

There are several methods how to extract CBD out of the plant.

CBD extract by CO2 Extraction

When employing CO2 extraction, you need to use a machine called closed-loop extractor.

CO2 gas at high pressure has been passed through the column containing hemp plant material.

When CO2 gas touches the plant material it hits of the glands/trichomes of cannabinoids producing brown liquidy/oily type of product, which is called full spectrum extract. CO2 gas has been recovered afterwards to be reused in next extraction.

Full spectrum means it contains full spectrum of cannabinoids.

Full spectrum is most beneficial to use as it makes encourage effect on the body.

After full spectrum extract is extracted, CBD only molecule can be isolated by distillation.

By knowing what is boiling temperature of CBD, we can separate it from the rest of cannabinoids and isolate it. Using this method it can be 99.9% pure strong.

This is how you get pure CBD isolate. Nowadays scientists find that the best benefits are from all cannabinoids interacting with each other as a nature made it with all possible cannabinoids.

All our Ancient Chemistry CBD oils are made of full spectrum CO2 extracts for best benefits possible.

CBD Extract by Solvent extraction

The liquid solvent that you can use may be ethanol, hexane, isopropyl alcohol, or butane.

If extract to be used for human consumption best to use food grade ethanol , butane or isopropyl alcohol.

When using this method, you need to put the plant material in a container that’s suitable for the solvent that you are going to use.

Cannabinoids are fat soluble molecule and therefore will be soluble in solvents mentioned above.

If cannabinoids would be water soluble molecule it would be possible to extract with water.

The solvent attaches cannabinoid molecules as well as other fat matter.

Than it has to be filtered through filter to separate the solvent with cannabinoids from plant material.

The solvent than has to be evaporated and full spectrum extract can be collected.

From here cbd isolate can be distilled.

Oil or Butter extraction perfect for DIY CBD extracts

The principles of the all extraction are the same but this method is safest method to extract cannabinoids at home.

Simmer the olive oil coconut oil or olive oil and cannabis on slow heat in a saucepan for 5 to 6 hours. Mixing frequently. Strain the final solution through cheesecloth.

The body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that has an important task of maintaining the body’s state of balance. It impacts your immune response, hormone, appetite, pain, mood, and sleep. It also helps your body produce natural cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids.

CBD can help stimulate the natural production of cannabinoid within your body and maintain the optimal functioning of ECS and the efficiency of the receptors.

In summary, all cannabinoids that are extracted from the plant will contain CBD, but extracts from seeds won't.
